SAMUEL ROLL, PhD, ABPP, Professor Emeritus at the University of New Mexico, is a native of Medellin, Colombia and taught at the University of Pittsburgh and Yale University before beginning his extensive teaching career at the University of New Mexico in 1970. In 1998, Dr. Roll was a founding faculty member of the Instituto de Salud Mental, a psychoanalytically oriented training program in Monterey, Mexico. He has taught in Mexico, Peru, and Colombia and has published over 100 journal articles and book chapters in the areas of child development, cross-cultural psychology and psychological testing, as well as coauthoring the book Psychotherapy and Culture.

 

MARC IRWIN, PhD, is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Northern New Mexico where he works with Latino, Native American and Anglo clients. He also provides psychological services to local school systems, the Navajo Police Department, the Gallup Diocese of the Catholic Church, and various state agencies. Dr. Irwin received his PhD in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley and has served as a faculty member of the University of New Mexico Psychology Department and as a research scientist with the World Health Organization, stationed in Central America. He also co-founded and was clinical director of a comprehensive community mental health center in Farmington, New Mexico. His publications include cross-cultural research studies performed in West Africa, Guatemala and on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico and Arizona.
